Giraffe Centre Day Tour

Giraffe Center Day Trip explores the Giraffe Centre located at Langata, approximately 20 kilometers from the centre of Nairobi, Kenya. The Giraffe Center is a wonderful and refreshing experience undertaken during African Spice Safaris excursion in Nairobi.

Nairobi Giraffe Centre tour gives a completely up close and personal interaction where guests have the opportunity to view giraffes as well as feed them. The centre has rescued, hand-reared and released around 500 orphaned giraffes back into the wild since opening in 1979.

Young giraffes born at the Centre were translocated to; Soy Sambu Ranch near Lake Elementaita, and Kigio Conservancy near Gilgil and Sergoit ranch in Eldoret while recently they translocated some to Mwea National Game Reserve . Today the Rothschild Giraffe population in Kenya is about 300.

Nairobi National Park Tour

Nairobi National park is situated almost on the doorstep of the capital city, not far from JKIA Airport.

The Nairobi national park is ideal for making acquaintance with Kenya and good preparation for a safari. It contains a satisfying number of Africa’s best known animals- gazelle, zebra, giraffe and buffalo, lion, leopard, and cheetah that may prove to be camera friendly than those in the bush.

The park is one of the best places in Kenya to spot rhinos. in the southeast of the park you can walk through an acacia forest to try to spot hippopotamus and crocodiles sunning themselves on Athi river. Well over one hundred species of mammals mainly plains game have been recorded in this park.The big five are represented except the elephant.

Daphne Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage

(3 Hours)

Daphne Sheldrick Animal Orphanage,  is located in a secluded area of the Nairobi National Park, where orphaned baby elephants amongst other animals are taken care of by a dedicated team of conservationists.

The orphanage is run by Daphne Sheldrick, the wife of the late famous Naturalist, David William Sheldrick who was the founder Warden of Tsavo East National Park in Kenya from its inception in 1948 to 1976.

At 1100 Hours, the baby animals are brought from the National Park for a mud-bath at the orphanage, where for an hour you can get close to them and sometimes touch them. You may not feed the animals but will get a chance to view the handlers feeding them.

The Private Session strictly between 1500 Hours to 1600 Hours each day allows you to see the animals in private and you will be able to interact with them. This requires advance booking through Antonio Tours and Safaris.

Nairobi Safari Walk & Animal Orphanage

Both Nairobi Safari Walk and Nairobi Animal Orphanage are located along Langata Road at the Kenya Wildlife Services Headquarters.

Nairobi Safari Walk is a Kenya Wildlife Service Conservation project seeking to inform visitors to Kenyan's wildlife and their habitats. The Safari Walk is a splendid conservation facility designed to enhance visitor's appreciation of Kenya's flora and fauna. It is a showcase of Kenya's vast natural diversity, and provides visitors with an experience of Kenya's three eco-systems namely the savannahs, forests and wetlands.

The Nairobi Animal Orphanage is a wider part of the Nairobi National Park – the first to be established in East Africa on the 16th of December 1946. The Orphanage was established in 1964, as a refuge for wild animals found abandoned, orphaned or injured throughout Kenya, with an aim to release the animals into the wild whenever possible, provide conservation education to Kenyans and visitors from all over the world.

The Carnivore Experience
